Red Star roosters

I have ordered ISA Brown roosters direct from the hatchery several times, including two i have now. The only roosters i keep are Easter Eggers and ISA Browns. I keep both for their non-aggressive, laid back temperments as well as their contributions to prolific egg-laying progeny.

My ISA Brown roosters have ALL been easy-going and in no way aggressive.
They are also quite large in size and make good meat birds, unlike ISA hens who have dainty bodies made only for egg-laying. I have crossed ISA Brown roosters with ISA Brown hens, Australorp hens and a few other brown-egg-laying breeds and mixes. Egg lay rate stays high, although the rich golden brown egg color from a first generation ISA Brown hen is usually lost. Progeny eggs are still a nice size and color, but I have found no other "breed" that compares to ISA Brown hens as far as lay rate and egg size.

If you decide to get a Red Star type rooster, I will be curious as to your own experience. Hopefully it will be as good as mine has been.
