HI, I am needing help in finding out what color my sussex are. I have not been able to find out about the lesser breed colors. my starter flock came from speckled stock but did know that some of the chicks were lighter in color but still had the same marking so I am sure they are not a cross. I hope someone can help me find the information I am looking for. I think I have a pair of reds and a brown hen along with several speckled ones. If someone would like to tell me how to get a picture of them on here I would be gald to share and let you guess what they are.
Thanks!

Take pics of your chickens and save the pics to a file.

Then:

First, click "Uploads" on the blue banner up above.

Then click "Choose File"

Find your file and click it.

Then on that same screen, click "Sumbit"

Place your cursor in the "Image" field. It will then be 'highlighted".

Right click and hit "Copy"

Come to this thread. Click "Edit" on your original post

See where you want to put the pics and then click "Paste"

And viola, there is your picture. You can then add other pictures and they will be saved to your "Uploads"

And here is an Arizona Sunrise from the top of Squaw Peak that I took a few months back. Enjoy

First welcome to the forum. Glad you are here.

Mahonri's post should work. This link gives just a bit more detail.

Something for later. If you want to post a picture you have already put in your uploads, when the uploads screen opens up, look in the bottom right. There is buttom called "my uploads". If you click on that, you can see which photos you have previously uploaded.

For fun, I'll show my Speckled Sussex Rooster. That's a Buff Orpington pullet in the back.

I disagree, the hen in the back has white legs, overall their body looks like sussex. I am pretty sure Sandhill has reds and I think a couple BYC members have them too.

Occam's razor? We don't know where the OP is (most likely in the US) and if it looks like a duck.....

From Sandhill:
Red Sussex (EB): We've been working with two (2) strains of this rare English breed for some time. We've been hesitant to offer them as they still show some variability. We find them to be vigorous and thrifty but still show color variations. Lay a very pale brown egg and have a medium sized single comb with five points. Chicks $4.00 each (20)

The 3 birds shown are not Red Sussex, the Red Sussex are a Red Columbian bird. They should have the same base colour as the Speckled shown, a very dark red, the same colour as an exhibition RIR.
They should also have a black tail, black lacing in the neck hackle & black markings in the wing flights.
The undercolour should be a blue/grey as the are Brown eb based.
These birds look to be Wheaten, what is the undercolour, white?
It may be the photo but the also appear to lack Sussex type.

Lovey birds!

Where did you get the original chicks? Were they shipped, or did you pick them out?

My guess is that some of them were mixed in, as it does appear you have multiple breeds there.
