Red Wasp/Yellow Jackets

I am having a particular problem this year with red wasps. They are determined to build in the chicken coop. I have been swatting them with a broom for an hour and they are still coming back. I don't want to use spray before I put my chicks in there. Any suggestions?

Permethrin (a pyrethrin based insecticide) is safe for use with chickens, and some insecticide sprays use it. Could you buy and use one of those?
