The coop is 5x6.6. We currently have 4 birds in our flock. Predator proof run is 5x10 plus a 5x4 triangle.
Current layout in the coop has the nest boxes higher than the roost area so we are going to move everything around. Nest boxes are 33in off the ground above the pop door. Roost is a ladder layout with the top rung being level with the floor of the nest boxes.
Here is my idea for the new layout. The red bars are roosts. The poop boards will be about 18 inches off the floor. What height should the roost bars be at? I know our rirs can jump/fly 33 inches because I left our ramp up and they were able to get to the nest boxes. We also plan to put storage shelves about the pop door (chicken supplies and bagged christmas lights).
Input or ideas greatly appreciated!

Poop boards 18 inches off of the floor sounds like a back ache waiting to happen. Is this a raised coop or walk in?
Walk in. I'm currently scooping poop off the floor so 18 inches would be an improvement lol. We could go higher. I just am not sure about roosts in front of a window. Although we are in fl so heat is more of an issue than cold.

Does the window not close? If it doesn't, then I agree. But if it DOES, and is draft free when closed, having the roost in front of the window would likely be a good thing as they would be kept cooler in the heat. For ME, having to work at ground level is no issue. But picking stuff from a bit higher level, but lower than about waist high, is awkward. (Maybe because tools are made to reach the ground, and I have had horses for 40+ years. So cleaning up after birds that are pooping on the ground is easy peasy! LOL)
