How many nesting boxes are needed for 12 chickens?

How much roosting space? How far apart should the roosts be placed?

Well, most people do one nesting box for every three hens, so you'd need four. And the general rule of thumb is to do 8" of roosting space per bird. I'm not sure that you'd really have to space the roosts all that far apart, probably enough to avoid poop buildup, but make sure they're all the same height or you birds will fight over who gets to sleep on the higher one.
