Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: Extended Edition

If it wasn't for Sweety being so perfect I probably wouldn't be so enamored with chickens. I'd see them as a resource, not pets. Honestly as far as the other chickens go, I could take them or leave them. She has a special place in my heart and I can only hope her chicks are as wonderful as she is.

Whenever I'm in the yard she's by my side checking out what I'm doing and softly clucking and cooing the whole time. I rarely get anything done because I end up sitting with her in my lap and holding a full on conversation with her. :love
She sounds like Anne. Anne would happily sit on me all day.

A couple of the 7 and 8 week olds are shaping up to be lap chickens, too.

There's one little Buff Orpington that was right under foot while my son and I were working on putting the run together. My son was getting aggravated because I'd keep picking her up and cuddling her, lol. I handed her to him and told him to take a chick break.

We ended up taking turns holding her while the other worked . . .yes it's taking us a lot longer to get the run completed, but makes the task more enjoyable, lol.

Only thing left today is putting on the netting . . .

I take a lot of chick breaks throughout my days now, lol.

That's so exciting that your run is about complete! I know that'll be nice.

It would've been completed by now if the instructions weren't such garbage, lol.

There were 4 different bolt lengths and the diagrams didn't indicate which to use when. We ended having to switch out bolts several times and it got really annoying. We ended up calling it quits early yesterday from pure frustration.

Oh I totally get that! I don't think I've bought anything recently that actually had usable instructions.
