Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: Extended Edition

My family is definitely right there about more chickens. I now have 10 and seriously I still want more. If I could get another 20 plus I would be totally obsessed with posting pictures of the babies. I love all of my girls. I just wish the almost 5 month old chicks would stop deciding Mom's here and that means food, food and water. No just let me get back to work so that I can keep you all safe. Whiner attacked my girl Cheeks, she's still alive and she did lay an egg today so I am keeping her inside in a tote until she heals. She's all black and just so beautiful with her adorable little chipmunk cheeks. I absolutely love her. I have 12 chickens not 10 I just didn't count the 2 in the crate on the porch.

I saw that post. I'm so sorry! I am still way too new to offer insight, so I didn't reply. But it looked like an injury she can heal from to me. I hope she makes a quick recovery!

I'm with you on more babies, ha! I have 12 bantams right now. At the end of the month I'm going to have 6 more. 4 BBS Orpingtons and 2 hatchery surprises.

I know that 12 bantams is where I need to be, so I'm done buying for this year. I'll let these grow up and see where I stand after rehoming any males, if that becomes necessary. I feel like with 12 straight runs, its almost unavoidable that I'll have more cockerels than I can keep.

I had to end the lives of 2 roosters and tried getting the 3rd one but he disappeared and just happened to show up today. I am doing everything I can do for Cheeks and knowing now that she's an olive egger I'm happy. She cannot be too terribly injured considering she laid an egg today. I was trying to figure out which one gave me a little olive egg days ago and now I know that it's Cheeks. I will get a good picture of her after she heals up a bit and hopefully she will let me get a picture of her face. She has adorable little chipmunk cheeks.

I'm sure that was rough too.

Aww, I bet she's precious! I also feel that since she laid an egg, her body must be recovering and that it's definitely a positive sign.
