I almost missed them when I walked outside. I saw Sweety and headed for the nestbox thinking she left behind. She's doing so great for a first time mom. Just when I think I can't love her more, she does something absolutely wonderful. I even picked up the chicks without her fussing about it. She looked at the chick in my hand, looked me in the eyes, cooed and went back to foraging. The little stretches in the first clip!Everyone looks like they're doing great!
She fully trusts you with her babies which means you're doing everything right with her.I almost missed them when I walked outside. I saw Sweety and headed for the nestbox thinking she left behind. She's such a special girl. I've treated all the chickens the same way and she is the only one that behaves this way. I know when the reds go broody, if they do, I'll need full tactical gear, lol.She fully trusts you with her babies which means you're doing everything right with her.
My neighbor just dropped off some eggs for my family. She was telling me that she's been moving her RIRs and BRs this morning from their brooder area into the bigger grow out pen. She said the RIRs latched onto her arm and hung there as she raised her arm up when she reached in to grab them. They're mostly cockerels, though, lol. She's such a special girl. The boys are horrible. I had other chickens peck at me but never grab and bite. When I got the reds I got a straight run batch, 10 males 6 pullets. One latched onto my finger and wouldn't let go. I had to smack him to get him to turn loose. I was not sad to see them go, and I'm pretty sure they became stew.My neighbor just dropped off some eggs for my family. I don't think I've ever really heard anything great about the males. I'm sure there are some exceptions to the rule, as always. But I'll be avoiding them, lol.The boys are horrible.
