Like a charm! I also found that if you put it on and leave it for a bit the poop will soften and be way easier to remove. It also seems to get them to start cleaning themselves more, because they don't like the feel of the oil on them.

ETA: You don't need a lot, just a smear between your fingers and rub it on.

Some actual work I did:

I was already tired and sore from the past few days, then I smacked my knee with a friggin' paver so I didn't get to all the stuff I wanted to do today.

Guess what didn't get done!

And last, but certainly not least:

I noticed Sweety had come out of the top of the pen, which I intentionally left open for her, and wanted to make sure she knew how to get back to the babies. I didn't cut or edit this one so it's a bit long (8ish minutes)

Thanks. I went with the open air run/coop since it's so hot and humid here an enclosed coop just seemed like a bad idea. I also figure there's less of a chance of mites and such if there's no wood for them to hide in. Only thing I need now is a few tarps to wrap the runs with to keep the wind and rain off them during winter.

I just checked the 10-day forecast; highs are mid 80's-90' lows are high 60's and mostly Sunny. I think it's a good time to move the incubator chicks in with 8 and 9 week olds, but I don't wanna

I went out to check on Sweety and her brood and found a few 8 and 9 week olds loose.

Funny how they can't find a gate that's wide open, but a gap wide enough for one chick at a time to get through . . they're like little ninjas.

Time to button up the bottom of the run . . . I ran short on zip ties on the first pass.

I might have super broody on my hands.

I let Sweety out of her pen and she found a clutch of eggs the other girls laid in the run and immediately went to sitting.

I pulled her off them, obviously, and collected them, but it seems if I leave it up to her she'll hatch every egg she can find. I don't know whether to be overjoyed or worried sick, lol.
