I haven't been here very long, but you're exactly right. There are some truly amazing people here.

I was trying to get one last round of pictures to close out this thread with names of the chicks, but Pot's 4 chicks are apparently quadruplets and I can not tell them apart, lol. I'll get leg bands or something and give it another go tomorrow.

I'm somewhat expecting this with my BBS chicks next month. Unless they give me a good variation of colors. Fingers crossed!

Yes, exactly! I was just 17 when my first son was born, and I wanted so badly to show the world that I wouldn't be just another teen mom. I worked, went to school, and cared for him. 4 years later, his sister came along, and then I became a single mom. I went through EMT school and was working 24 hour shifts on an ambulance, while still maintaining the house and trying to be the best mom i could to a 4 year old and an infant.

Then I met my now husband, and our lives changed for the better. I was able to get off the ambulance and be home with our kids. But that urge to, I don't know, prove myself, never went away and I always felt like I needed to go above and beyond to keep things in order and neat all the time.

But not after we lost our baby. I still keep things clean, but other things are more important. They're a little old for tea parties these days, but I'll take an evening of goofy conversation on the porch with my family any day. The floors can wait.

I agree with you! Family is the most important priority in this life! It is something that I am still working on for myself, so thank you so much for the reminder And I agree, this site is full of wonderful, caring people. It is such a great place to be, compared to fb, etc

I tried the thinner yolk and she still wouldn't swallow. She's in the brooder under the heat plate now.

Sorry, I know it's too late this time but just in case you have a similar situation again I wanted to mention that tube feeding is another option for chicks that are too weak or uncoordinated to feed themselves even with assistance. You need to be fairly confident with handling chicks and understand the anatomy of the oesophagus and trachea but it's really not very difficult.
