Redinator's First Hatch-Along

My first batch of 12 hatching eggs I defiantly handled too much. Only 7 hatched and two of those had difficult hatches and didn't make it past the first week.

I ordered the eggs in early January and we had a freak snowstorm that caused them to get delayed in shipping by a week. Between that, the inconsistent humidity in the incubator and the constant handling I'm lucky any made it.

Edited typo
That freak snow storm was no joke! I'm not in LA, but not far from you. I'm glad at least some of your chicks made it.

People from up north laugh when I mention 'snow on the ground for 5 whole days' being an apocalyptic event here.

We typically don't get snow but every few years (4-5) and it doesn't stick around for more than a day, if that long.

Yeah I know, right?! I've had people laugh too. But we don't get 8 inches of snow here in the south. It messed us up, lol.

I would love to follow along. Your others getting coccidiosis was definitely not something you could forsee and you're doing great. These babies are going to be little rockstars!
With the mixes I have and the Ayam Cemanis there's a good chance all of the chicks will be black, lol.

I did have RIR cockerel in the yard as well, but the older boys seemed to keep in line, but you never know. I recently sold him since he was a bit too amped up for my taste.
