What if I put water in the feed like a mash/soup to help with hydration?I finally got the last large patch of membrane off Finley, now she just needs to dry off so I can see if there's any other spots that need tending to.
I decided to put the other chick back in with her so she isn't alone. The other chick was still a little unstable on its legs and the other chicks were running over it. So I figure they're better off together in the incubator.
I put a shallow dish of feed in, but I'm worried about putting water in since they both tend to fall/stumble over quite a bit. How often and how much water should I give them by eyedropper?

I'm sure it would. I do that with kittens. What if I put water in the feed like a mash/soup to help with hydration?
I also would love to know why this happens, as I struggle with this same issue quite often and have never found a definitive answer! That was rough, but necessary. The shells are surprisingly harder than I'd imagined, but then I did drop a yard egg which didn't crack.
Both were completely dried out, which I really don't understand. Neither pipped externally and the incubator has been at 70-75% humidity since the second day of lockdown when I added the sponge.
I think in my case it may've been the makeshift hatching baskets that weren't vented at the bottom. I think it disrupted the airflow and caused cold spots like the one the Ayam eggs were in. Just a theory though.I also would love to know why this happens, as I struggle with this same issue quite often and have never found a definitive answer!
