Hi There.
I have an older Silkie rooster who is often very nice, but there's plenty of times when he's in a mood to seriously hurt me and he attacks with a vengeance. If I try to be the aggressor in any way (never harming him of course), he just gets worse, which is logical I suppose. BUT, I've found that if I put my hands on his back and walk him in the other direction, maybe into a corner, not aggressively, but very firmly, making him walk fast, he stops and turns back into his nice self. I've done it too many times now to think it's coincidence. Somehow this redirects his instinct to protect his girls, or tells him in no uncertain terms that I'm the boss.
Has anyone tried something like this? Yes, it sounds ridiculous, but it works just about every time for me and I know lots of people have attack rooster issues, many of which end up with a bit of sage, rosemary and thyme...
If you haven't ever tried something like this, would you? I'm curious about if I've stumbled on something, or if you all know this already, or if it's just my roo!
