Redness on the feet...is it the feathers?

I've just noticed that my roo has redness on his feet. Is it a result of his feathers? (He is a cochin). I've never noticed them looking red before.

Normal, especially if he has been diggin around alot. Digging moves the feathers back and forth and irritates the area where the feathers connect.

Looks like my light skinned feather footed birds too. I'm sure the silkies have the same issue, but their dark feet probably makes it much less obvious.

Hi all while we are on the subject of "Redness", My new Gold Cochin which i picked up yesterday at auction for $2.00 AUS only 18mths old Is Red around the Vent Area and feathers missing i thought perhaps is from being caged up for a long period, prior to sale or could it be a Problem???
