How much should a redwood incubator run... price wise? Is $350 reasonable? I don't know the model. But here is a photo:

I saw that ad on craigslist and thought it was too high considering how old it is. I don't think it had a turner did it? That's another minus in my opinion. I'd love to have a cabinet type but if I was to pay that much, I'd want one that was more modern with gauges and all. I'm north of Springfield.

Those are the old Leahy Favorite incubators... they spelled it, "inGubator"... I always think that's cool.

None of those have turners. You don't buy it for practicality... you buy it for the antique & cool-ness factor. Looks like a smaller one. They make one with up to 8 trays, I believe. I'd pay 200 or 250 for it... wouldn't go much higher than that.

They didn't have auto-turners... the eggs sat on their sides. That's why I would buy it. Back in the day the redwood was kind of the standard. When the GQFs came out with auto-turners, the turner put eggs vertical and it was noticed that hatch rates went down. There is a line of thought (and much supporting evidence) that eggs incubated on their side have better hatch rates. I was hoping someone who has a fair amount of knowledge on larger incubators would know the going price for a redwood these days.

$300 sounds kind of high for the condition that one looks to be in. I gave $100 for my model 30E. Mine has a manual turner. The lever on the right hand side tilts all 6 trays at once.

You can use the auto turner and still lay eggs flat and hand turn also.

Most eggs hatch fine in tray large end up, except turkey and peafowl egg.

I collect incubators and have about 12 all type

they want to much for that one.
