Reeves Pheasant Issues

Hi I just received my order of reeves and black pheasant chicks today. They were a gift from my brother who ordered them around christmas and finally arrived. Well after being shipped from Kansas 2 days ago they arrived this morning in terrible shape. 5 of the reeves were already dead and the others were on their last legs. When my dad went home at lunch to check them, all but 2 were dead. When I finally made it home at 3 today all but one were dead and the live one was on its back and after I rolled him on his belly he'd roll back on his back. He seemed to have clubbed feet. Are reeves chicks just to fragile to ship? The dealer my brother got them from sells a lot of fancy varieties as chicks. I wanna know if its worth having chicks shipped again or just get a refund. The guy hasn't called my brother back yet but I'm hoping he is easy to deal with. Any info on reeves chicks is appreciated!

Ordering chicks in general is a gamble. Always check the weather and the time it takes to have them shipped. If the dealer is willing to send your chicks again, go for it but if the chicks are sickly again -get your refund. Don't get the chicks if they take more than 2-3days to ship.

Why did your brother order pheasant chicks from a hatchery?All the contacts you could ever need are right here.I could also look for people in your area that raise what you are looking for so you could go and pick them up and make sure they are healthy.
Reeve chicks usually need electrolytes and vitamins in their water 2 times per week.

Where in Utah are you and how many are you looking for. I may be going to Lv and could meet you some place if you would like me to hatch them for you or you could go on a road trip to Co.
