refridgerated eggs for hatching

In 2008 I hatched three eggs under a hen that had been stored in a working refridgerator. I have one in the incubator know that looks like its going to hatch. Has anyone else has any experience with this.

Storing eggs in a working refrigerator is not a recommended practice, unless you have it set at 60 degree's and aren't trying to keep food cold. If any of them hatch, I'd call it "The Luck Of The Irish"

Done it and hatched them all fine. I get a much better hatch rate from refrigerated eggs than shipped eggs and got 96% on quail eggs that had been in their for a week. So long as they are fresh it really doesn't impact the hatch rate much. I also hatched 1 and now several more that I've lost count of from the coop that was below 32F. So long as they aren't freezing solid I try throwing them in the bator. Alot do fail in the first week from having actually partially frozen but more than half survived. It may not be the ideal temp to store them at but fridge temps are nothing compared to 0F outside in the winter.

I don't need to put them in the refrigerator... heck, I LIVE in a refrigerator!

I've hatched a lot of eggs that were downright frosty... not frozen solid or cracked, but were sitting at below-freezing temps for hours... you just don't want them to freeze.

I store my eggs in a cooler above ice and they hatch.

All 4 of mine were in my fridge for at least 5 days when we decided to give it a try under a broody hen! All 4 are happy and healthy babies! I no longer store my hatching eggs in the fridge because of the advice I had gotten from here, but the group I did hatch were a success!

I've wondered about that too, I bought some eggs that were a beautiful brown because a friend of mine bought some and I saw them at her house. When we cracked a couple open they were fertile! So I just hauled myself to Wally World and bought a doze and I'm going to try it!
