@perchie.girl , your mare looks amazing!
Remind me to tell the story of Pocket, the 4th level horse that was given to me.

Quote: Nice stout girl! You get snow there?

Is she black or dark bay?@casportpony
Snow yep... but as soon as the sun comes out its gone. Though the shady spots keep their snow for quite a few days. Most ever we had was about a foot. Crushed a bunch of lawn sheds and carports.... Katees first shelter too. It looked like a dead spider.... all flat with its metal legs sticking up.... Thank goodness Katee was living in town for a short time with Julie her one and only professional trainer. After the cart crash I got afraid of handling her and she spent two years without being touched up there.... so when I got a good job I brought her down to go to "camp" at a nice boarding place close to where Julie lives.
It was four years before I brought her back up to the house. I stopped being able to afford the trainer and she was too far away for me to visit more than on the weekends....
Any way ..... Stout yep.... When she is fit like in this picture she is only 1600 pounds. Shes a smaller Percheron for sure. At 17.1 hands it puts her a full hand shorter than the Hitch horses like in the videos above. The wheel horses on a hitch wagon start at 19 hands.... Start. 20 and 21 hands are not uncommon.
in the picture you dont really see scale unless you really look at the pipe corral.... Those are five feet tall or 15 hands. She is around 2000 lbs right now.... Her fluffy self.
Oh and I check her crest for thickness and while it is thick shes not in danger of founder. She eats only bermuda....

Black.... almost unbleachable too. The only time she browns a bit is just before shedding time. Brown is technically not allowed in the breed in the US.... though it does happen. Bay and Sorrel are usually the colors. Often times the breeder sells them off as Grade Percherons and no registry... because they dont want anyone to know a prize mare or stallion produced non SOP .... Though they may be registered. The only desirable colors are Black or Grey which turns white.
Now Shires and Clydesdales come in ALL colors.... But they usually have some chrome and lots of feather so much so the farrier will put panty hose on them in order to Hot shoe. They even make a leather bell to cover the feathers to keep them clean....
