Regarding the Horses in our lives...

Kathy how many horses do you have at home now?

Last week I had traded a near new Kawasaki Mule for 18 months of board. My horse is kept at a place that has 28 horses in various pastures. I could have her at home but she'd be living on sand without company. So I love the fact that she has pasture buddies and gets grass all day aside from hay and grain. She has also developed into a "mare". At feed time she harasses the mares in the next pasture squealing and striking at the fence. It's just so cool to see her being a horse.

15.2 sounds like a good sized "pony". Are Welsh bigger?
Sire was 14.2 Section D Welsh Cob, dam was a 14.3 1/2 WB 1/2 TB by Hidla Gurney's stud Chrysos. Section D Welsh are no shorter than 13,2 hands and have no upper limit. Other sections are:

  • Section A - up to 12.2 hands with Section A parents
  • Section B - up to 14.2 hands with Section A or Section B parents
  • Section c - up to 13.2 hands with parents that are section A, C or D

Yeah, the Welsh pony and Welsh Cob are rather different in type; the section A 's are the one extreme, and the section D's are the other. A's are small and refined, D's a lot bigger and somewhat drafty, and the B's and C's are kinda transitional stages between the two.
