Regrouping after predator wipe-out...

Just so happy for you! Everything seems to be coming together so quickly. I hope you have the best of luck with these new ladys!!!!!

We just added 5 new birds. We started out with 13. 4 were roos that went to freezer camp. 1 wandered off to join a neighbors flock. Then one day I found the driveway covered in feathers and a fox trotting off with a bird in its mouth. We lost 4 of our remaining gals that day to the fox.

It took us a while to find birds up here but love our new gals. We are getting two more on Monday. So far the integration is going well.

Thanks a lot, everyone! LOL I'm resisting the urge to go visit them in my pjs.. I'm very excited with their age/size, and I'm also excited-as much as I miss my one big boy- not to have a roo, always bugging them for a ride, lol. They should have a fairly peaceful existence as far as that goes, now. :) I'll try to get better pics today.. The red star got a pretty nasty comb injury from the net we had to use to catch her (the lady felt bad but hey, I've seen way worse ;) ).. I'll have to see how it looks today.

Sorry about losing your chooks. I hope the new ones continue to do well!

Henless- I did, lol. But it was COLD and uneventful. The girls were still on the roost, and just sat staring at me, "umm we're not coming out, it's cold!!"

Karibare- post some pics of your new birds here so we can all see! We can make this a rebuilding thread for all. :)

Cold here this morning too, 34 outside, but it has stopped raining.

Went to town yesterday and got some 4x4's to put up some more posts for the coop. Hoping to get the auger and drill some holes for them, at least the ones on the outside. Probably have to use the post hole digger for the interior holes. At least the sun is out, and it won't feel so cold.

@Karibare ~ Yes PICS! I love looking at everyone's chooks. I don't have any yet, but hope to have some after the first of the year, or when my coop is finished.

Cold? Hah!! This is cold, 6 inches of snow and 24 degrees! No chickens coming out today I don't think.
But I would rather deal with this than the heat y'all get down there in the summers.
