I just got 3 new chickens from a friend. I've had them 3 weeks and 2 of them have not started laying yet! I make sure they eat great with high protein and plenty of water and fresh bedding. Temperatures have warmed up and everyone else's chickens have been laying, why aren't mine yet? Surely they aren't still stressed?

Laying birds tend to have brighter, redder combs of larger size that will actually shrink a bit and go pale/dry/pinkish during molt or if very stressed. If you post some pictures that might let us give a little more input.

Otherwise, I definitely agree with everyone else; age and whether or not they were laying for your friend will help you determine if this is abnormal or not.

Welcome to BYC.
I would ask your friend how old they are. If they are of laying age, they could still be adjusting to the new environment.
Honestly I don't think he knows. They had a mixture of breeds and I don't even know their breeds?

I just hatched some Isa Brown's and they are 2 weeks old!!

I'm not even sure what kind they are?
