Hi, all:

I have three wethers I must rehome. My mother died in February, and I can't afford to buy her place, and there's no room for them at my place. I feel physically ill at the thought of giving these goats up. They've been pets. Two of them in particular are very bonded, and I'd like them to stay together.

Does anyone have any suggestions for finding them new homes? I had a guy who used to come around regularly asking to buy them, but he deals in unwanted farm animals. He had a business card. Something about him I didn't trust.

I see a regular ad on craigslist for a person looking for unwanted goats, roosters, etc. I fear those animals don't meet a happy end. And I'm afraid if I advertise them on craigslist myself, someone like that will show up.

Anyway, I was hoping someone here would have suggestions for how to place goats where they at least have a decent chance of living out a normal life expectancy with people who wouldn't turn around and resell them or eat them.

This forum is a good place to find new owners. No guarantee as to what they may want goats for. :idunno
Try to place your general location so peeps can have better considerations as to possibility of adopting.
WISHING YOU BEST...................... :highfive:

Where are you located? If it’s an area that is easily overgrown you could lease them out to people who need their land cleared. Goats are great at getting every bit of food! Maybe post an ad at a local grocery store and on Craigslist asking if people have a fenced in area that they need the undergrowth cleared out of. Since they are wethers people wouldn’t have to worry about ill behaved bucks or females in heat!

If you are near me and drop em off I will take em. I could use some walking weed eaters. We have 1+ acre and I really don't like mowing much, but live 10 hours from anywhere.

Thanks so much for all the supportive answers and even an offer to take them.

I'm in NE Kansas, near the Kansas City area.

I didn't even think about leasing them out. That's brilliant. Of course, the little one can easily jump a five plus foot fence. I've seen him do it. :)

That sounds cool leasing animals out, just for the record my fence is 6 foot high! From Kansas to a forever home is still only a 12 hour drive! Also I have a shed I would take the doors off for their shed if they need one, just saying we have the space if you need options. Goats would not be our first choice as we want alpacas(in a bad way).
