Rehoming Roosters

I got real lucky with my first 4. Some guy wanted to buy bantam roos and hens so I offered him my roos for free. I too was a little concerned about the meet up- so I had him agree to meet in a parking lot near the interstate.

Now I am faced with a single roo- also a bantam. I wouldn't mind him being dinner, but wouldn't want him part of any illegal activity. I'm a concerned that he would be more trouble than its worth to grow him out and invite him to dinner. Also the meetup / gas $ might not be worth it for a single bird. He is a hatchery EE, so 4-H is not really an option.

No, they don't look any different, either -- again, unless you incubate them. Some of the eggs you eat from the grocery store are fertilized.

Fertilized eggs don't taste any different than unfertilized eggs. If you don't incubate them, they won't develop.

Aren't they all veiny and yucky looking??? I will never be able to pass that off on my preschooler or hubby!

Oh my, no they look exactly like a regular egg unless you incubate them!

Is it possible to post a photo of a cracked feritilized egg, so I can see what it looks like visually before I try and sell that idea to my family??? I'd really appreicate it...

The only difference you will see between fertilized and not is the white spot will be a bullseye pattern instead of just a dot. That's it. No veins.

Right away...like if we collect once a day in the morning?

And my hubby said he has seen ferilized eggs and was totally grossed out and there is no way he's eating them, so if I could show him a pic, I might have a selling chance at keeping a rooster if I have one in the lot....

it's not the yolk part that grosses him out, it's the white things hanging off of it....what are those and are they on ALL fertilized eggs???

I'm going to get some eggs at the whole foods market and see if he can tell the difference...I don't care if they look like that...infact I'm pretty sure I've had fertilized eggs before if that's the case...I've seen the little white dot on my yolk just the other day!
