Question About Treating and Reintegrating a Chicken with a Respiratory Illness

I have a hen who came down with a respiratory cold. The vet prescribed Sulfatrimethoprim, and she’s been separated from the rest of the flock for 6 days. She’s finally starting to feel better.

Since we can’t eat her eggs for 30 days after treatment, I’m unsure how to manage that once she rejoins the others — I can’t tell her eggs apart unless I section her off in the coop.

My main questions are:

1. Can I move her back in with the flock now, or should I keep her separated longer?

2. I’m considering treating the rest of the flock with Tylosin as a precaution. I’ve read that eggs shouldn’t be eaten for 14 days after Tylosin treatment — is that correct?

For simplicity and cleanup reasons, I’d like to move her back and treat the entire flock so I don’t have to worry about whose eggs are safe to eat.

Eggs do not have to be thrown away with oral Tylosin, according to Farad, the experts. It is one of few drugs approved for poultry. I would let her out with the flock after remaining present for some time to make sure they don’t peck her too badly. I have broody hens out of the flock for 5-6 days without any problems, except a peck or two. Has she been laying since she has been separated? How often does she lay? You could put her up inside a wire dog crate in the mornings on the days she normally lays, and then let her out once she lays an egg.
