Question About Treating and Reintegrating a Chicken with a Respiratory Illness
I have a hen who came down with a respiratory cold. The vet prescribed Sulfatrimethoprim, and sheās been separated from the rest of the flock for 6 days. Sheās finally starting to feel better.
Since we canāt eat her eggs for 30 days after treatment, Iām unsure how to manage that once she rejoins the others ā I canāt tell her eggs apart unless I section her off in the coop.
My main questions are:
1. Can I move her back in with the flock now, or should I keep her separated longer?
2. Iām considering treating the rest of the flock with Tylosin as a precaution. Iāve read that eggs shouldnāt be eaten for 14 days after Tylosin treatment ā is that correct?
For simplicity and cleanup reasons, Iād like to move her back and treat the entire flock so I donāt have to worry about whose eggs are safe to eat.
