Hello!

Some of you may have read my previous thread about my rooster not doing so well.
Well I am happy to say that he is doing a whole lot better!!! He's got his energy back and more of an appetite and is drinking great. Unfortunately, though his eye now opens, he appears blind from that eye.

So today after almost 2 weeks of him being inside the house and away from the flock, we decided to bring him outside again.
Of course, we observed aaaand 3 of the ladies do not appear to be pleased.
I don't want any of them hurting each other (although Rambo was the one outnumbered and not really fighting back much). So I separated them, but they can still see each other.
I hope after sometime they will remember him 😱 They all grew up together since hatchlings.

Any tips?
How long should I wait to try and reintroduce?
I just don't want them to hurt his other eye.
Thanks!

Being raised together really does not mean anything to chickens. 2 weeks is enough time for them to forget they ever knew him. Do a see, no touch for a few days. Then you might put a single bird (not the meanies) in with him. They still might puff up a bit, but one on one is better than one against all.

Not sure how many birds you have, but just keep adding one at a time, leaving the mean ones till last, have hideouts and escapes in the run. It is just going to be rough for a few days, maybe a week.

Thank you! I just have 6 hens and the one rooster. The reds seem scared of Rambo. One of the Leghorns is 50-50. It's the other Leg and Welsummer (especially Welsummer) that's all up in his face pecking him. Funny thing is, Rambo is also a Welsummer. I will put in a hide out for the area where Rambo is at. Thanks again!
