Reintroduction: Ohiki Breeder & Returning Member

View attachment 2543838Good evening! After a long hiatus from the backyard chickens site, I am returning to engage with fellow flock keepers on this site and am looking forward to making new friends here. I have been working with chickens for about a decade, and have been focusing specifically on breeding Ohiki for 5-6 years now. They are a true bantam longtail breed that originates from Japan. I have bred some colors unique to the US: a crele line and a fibro-melanistic line of Ohiki. I also have been producing some cree Ohiki in recent years. Please let me know if you have any interest in adding Ohiki to your flock. I would be happy to be of assistance. We need more Ohiki breeders in the United States!
I am currently focusing on Ohicki, I obtain a roo and 4 hens from a friend, She had gotten them several hens before and had been unable to raise any chicks from them (Infertile eggs). I got them and raised two pullets by single mating. Lost one to an owl. Found another roo and have hatched about two dozen. (Suspect first roo was too old.) All the originals were spangled. The new roo is spangled, but with golden duckwing base instead of bb red base color. I am hatching a few white ones from this breeding, suspect roo and at least one hen carries recessive white. Have two almost mature white roos and plan to breed one back to his mother and half sister. this will confirn if recessive white. Am interested in obtaining barred genetics to add to my flock. Interested in other colors also. Would also like to obtain info about Ohicki breed club.
