Releasing New Guinea hens.

I havent had to many issues with preditors(knock on wood) i have taken note to the keeping them locked up for 2 weeks. One thing though... i was told i have to have pairs.. otherwise they will pick on the outsider.. so i got 6.. but one of them is being cast out..m would that mean to many boys or girls?? How do i tell?.

I have five with two being males and one being female. One female was picked on by everyone and was an outsider but now that they have entered breeding season she has been accepted back. They have sort of paired off, though, and I think maybe she is the third wheel for one of the couples. Your outcast may be able to make its way back into the flock one way or another. The call is the way to tell what you have, though one of my males had me convinced he was female for a very long time (which is unusual). Some people call the female call "buckwheat" but to me it sounds more like "perquack".
