Releasing snake to eat mice

am I the only that thinks feeding meat to chickens is bad??

We don't feed meat to our chickens. But I can't give you a decent reason why, lol! I guess I think they get all their protein from the bugs they get on their own. And we just eat very little meat ourselves, so it's not like we have much (or any!) to give them.

Chickens are omnivores, sometimes affectionately named "backyard dinosaurs". I think it's weird NOT to feed them meat. Like when grocery stores sell "vegetarian-fed" poultry products. That's not natural.

Vegetarians, no, chickens are not. But I can't see them taking down a cow! :gig

I feed mine no-salt-added sardines for extra protein. Their feed is also made with fish meal. They go nuts for baby mice and snakes in addition to the bugs. I can't think of a good reason why NOT to feed meat to chickens, since it's good for them in proper rations of course. For example for a chicken recovering from illness who needs extra protein, you can give canned cat food to encourage them to eat. Cat food is usually made with chicken or turkey. I also occasionally scramble eggs for my chickens as a treat. That's a big hit.
