The dude next door said it doesent get cold enough here to worry but it will frost bite there waddles sorry i forgot what you call them........but what would stop frostbite?
 
Wattles.

If there is sufficient ventilation in the coop, excess moisture will vent out in freezing weather. Also, if the weather is predicted to go that low, put Vaseline on the combs and large wattles.

(At least that's what I've read numerous times - it doesn't freeze here often enough to be concerned about it.)
 
What state are you in? I'm in southern Ohio and although it doesn't get seriously cold until January -- we do get some brutal days through March.
