Is it necessary to remove most of the mud & dirt from the worms I've been digging up for my ducks? ~*CAN I Dump A Bucket Or Two Of Mud/Dirt WITH a BUNCH of WORMS In It, On The Ground Where The Ducks Are For Them To Free Range In? ~But, I guess Eating a Bunch of Mud/Dirt ON The Worms Couldn't Be Very Good For Them? Thanks, Julie

It won't hurt, they drill in the mud all of the time.
The worms give them something to actually drill for.

I have an area at the back of the yard that I have added compost to the soil to encourage worms. I turn over a few shovels full every day or two and the ducks love it- their bills are always covered in mud when they finish up the patch- and Im sure they eat more dirt than actual worms. they love rooting around in the patch- and hearing them chatter away while they do it is gorgeous. I have even seen them from time to time just eating plain dirt as well- more so my goose- but they will all do it from time to time - it diesnt hurt them- but the small grainular particles will act as grit in their digestive tract and actually help them to digest the food.

Cool... then I don't need to spend soooo much time trying to clean worms. (Not easy to clean dirt off worms when ya don't/won't touch them) Yes, they are so cute digging in the mud. I like when they follow me, while I'm searching for worms for them. There right there at my feet trying to help.~They love worms~ Thanks for the info, Julie

lol.
My ducks eat mud...worms or no worms.
They just hoover up dirty puddles....and love it!

I would add more mud and water to you worm mix and let them slurp around in it for the tasty treats.

I have 4 VERY picky Mallards. I run the worms throught the dishwasher, on the gentle china cycle, in the silverware tray. No heated drying unless they request roasted, extra crispy for a special occasion.

Do you serve it to them in a crystal bowl or is that just reserved for the cat?
