Removing Day Old Chicks from Hen

My hen hatched chicks for one of my friends. I would like to remove the chicks to give them to my friend sooner rather then later.. Is there anything special that I need to do prior to removing them?

I imagine she will be sad, how long will this last?

Is there any reason that your hen could not raise them?

I know that my chicks being raised by the hen are doing much better then ones raised by humans.

Personally I would let the hen raise them or keep one or two for her to raise if you really must give your friend day old chicks.

If I took a chick from my broody hen she would freak out. She was very unhappy when I moved them to the larger pen. She spent every moment it took me to gather them to scream for them. I think it would be stressful for her for at least 3 days. They do not have long memories like humans do.
