I was given several glass gallon jars that originally held pickles. My intent is to make some blackberry vodka in them. But, after several washings and airings, the jars still smell like pickles!

Is there any secret way to get rid of the smell? I thought about a baking soda or lemon juice or vinegar soak.

Any ideas?

Hot water, dish soap, vinegar. let stand for 1 day in jar. wash.

Whats funny is I just ran into a friend that gave me a jar of Rhubarb/strawberry jam. She canned it in a used jar from the store. I asked what she did about the smell in pickle jars, and that is what she told me. I am going to try this too! I am sure it work, as she does it all of the time! Good luck!!
