Alright, so I have a hen that definitely suffered from scaly leg mites. I purchased something that will cure that specific problem, however, my big issue is the leftover crud on her leg/feet, and I don't just mean the scales, I mean entire chunks of leftover crud attached to her feet. I tried soaking her feet and then peeling some of it off, and underneath is red and spongy, kind of like dried-ish blood. It almost makes me feel like I'm picking a scab or something.

Is there a better way to do this or should I just keep cutting/picking/peeling it?

Can you post photos?
Soaking is most likely going to be your best option. You can try using a soft brush to see if you can gently scrub it off. Several soakings/scrubbing may be in order. After soaking, dry the feet/legs then apply a little coconut oil or vaseline to see if that will help soften the crud in between soakings.

Also just for curiosity what product did you use as treatment for scaly leg mites?

The product I use is a spray I bought online but my issue is removing the pictured crud.
