Removing spurs

i have been reading everyones post about taking the spurs off and i have to admit the idea scares me to death. right now my little banty roo does not have his spurs just tiny tiny little bumps- how big do the spurs have to be before you remove them?can i take his right now before they grow in?

thank you -egh- right now he is a good boy and since i dont have any other roosters there is no-one for him to fight with, as long as he does not start useing them on me i will let him keep his spurs when they do grow in and since they are not used in mating he will not hurt the hens so i will just watch and see how he turns out

thanks

SERIOUS! Twist the spurs off? My rooster is skipping around and I need to do something about the spurs. I am thinking about a small pair of vise grips to lock on to them so I can get it done quickly for myself and the rooster. We use to use corn starch on our parrot to stop the bleeding if we clipped her nails too close to the quick and they started to bleed.
