Renovating a play house for a cooop...need help

Is the open floor okay with straw or shavings on top?

How do I secure a nest box to a plastic playhouse?
What's the best way to ensure enough ventilation?

A simple rivet gun might work to attach buckets as nest boxes.

I'd install a roof soffit or similar type of vent into the roofing. But dunno how thick the roofing is from the photos.

I don't think it's too thick. It's dry though, so I'd worry about it cracking. I'll look more and see if I can do something like that. Thanks.

So long as you aren't concerned about predators. But open floor deep litter is the best.

Great! Thank you! No predator worries. Thanks so much for your feedback.

Where do you live that you have no predators?

Urban part of Albuquerque. No racoons. No weasels. We have an occasional cat that comes in the yard, but that's not a problem for my adult hens. The whole yard is fenced in with no way for an animal to get in unless it climbs and we have no climbing animals around and are surrounded by neighbors and not wildlife or vegetation. There are neighbors directly on the three sides of our fence. We don't even have squirrels! A hawk or a cat would be the only predator and we don't have baby chicks.

My goodness.. I now have a new coop envy going on..
thanks so much for posting this photo..

Hardware cloth cut to size and screwed right into the plastic over all openings. Very easy!

Sorry to threadjack, but have to say, that castle coop is the cutest thing I have ever seen!
