Renovating an OLD Coop, worth it??

I would wall off a little storage room that you walk into first, w another door into the coop itself from the storage area. I think I would also builds the nest boxes so you could access them from he storage area.
I wish I could remember whose coop was done this way, it was someone who renovated an old shed, I think.
Also be sure to use hardware cloth, not chicken wire.

I think you've got something great to work with there!

That's a lot of GREAT wood! Try to restore it. I would repair the bulk of it with the original boards and rafters then do to a mini rebuild of the area that would be left disassembled/ unclad when I was done. This way I can customize the storage or build a brooder...or maybe both!

Very cool, it would cost more to demolish it and move it and would be great renovated! I am looking to add on my coop and like those huge windows. Can you brace up and level that concrete slab?

Great coop! I wish I had something like that on my land!

It's looks really large too, so you'll have plenty of room when chicken math sets in.

I agree with the others. Consider framing off a few sections on the interior so that you can have a storage section/entry way, and a few sections for either young/old birds or meat/laying birds. I'm running into a situation now with my coop where I wish I had separate areas for a new generation of birds. It looks like you've got plenty of room, and unless you plan on raising hundreds of birds, you've got room to spare. Good luck!

When I saw the pic I gasped and my mind instantly went into "what I'd do" mode...

I agree with the other folks here...this is a fantastic item. Check the roof...patch up any rotted or broken wood..predator proof...some paint..and WOW.

I also agree that in an area that big...it would totally be great to section off areas for storage and different birds. You hear much on this site about older hens pecking younger ones...roosters over using hens...meat vs layers...ect. Not to mention "quarantine" areas for when you have new birds to your flock or sick ones. The room you have is def. a blessing!
