All,
Our coop and run was built in 2017. Over the years my daily inspections have been less "complete". Checking for holes in the HW cloth. Is the door latch in good working order? We had a neighbor get stuck in the run once when the door latch would not open. Anyway, this morning I noticed the people door into the run has a rotted bottom 2x4. I am afraid that came mostly from not cleaning out debris and forcing it to close by kicking it. It is an easy repair. But it warns me to inspect more carefully. And to do better maintenance. Clearing debris from the door would have prevented the need to repair/replace this board. The run is still pretty secure, but fixing the door will be a good thing.

What is your inspection and maintenance routine?

I'm glad to see you're proactive! Too many people procrastinate with repairs or improvements until their flock is attacked or killed.

I have to admit, I do not consciously inspect my coop more than a couple times per year. However, we are frequently out in the barnyard with all our animals and I have noticed when small issues pop up (e.g. sheep scratching themselves against the coop step ladder to the point that it nearly detaches).

I don't actively look but while cleaning and maintaining the coop and run I spot things, so I just take care of them when weather is agreeable. Our run was built in... 2016, coop in 2018, and so far it's mostly been minor stuff like touching up paint.
