Reports of Salmonella Outbreaks?

I was watching the news, an American station out of Buffalo NY (could be mistaken) I think, sometime earlier this week and they were reporting on mass siskin deaths in Texas due to salmonella linked to unwashed bird feeders, but the story also stated that while Texas residents should be vigilant about hand washing and washing feeders they should also take comfort from the fact that the siskin population is heading to Canada now, so it'll soon be our problem, not yours.

Hope the word spreads to Canada to pull in all their bird feeders and force the siskens to hunt for their food. That should reduce the outbreak. Maybe we’ll be lucky and the outbreak will die down. Sure hate that it’s happening...that’s one of my favorite little birds.
