First I want to thank everyone for the very useful information on this forum. I am gettting ready to sit some duck eggs for the first time and I am planning out the heat dource for after the incubator. I did a search of the forum but I did not see if one of these had ever been successfuly used to control the heat lamp.

I have seen the ReptTemp 500R listed here with success but it looks to be a little over kill.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I would try the 500R it is an actual thermast the reostat is only a dimmer switch. If you use the reostat when the suronding temp changes so will the bators.

Thanks, I knew I had to be missing somthing. The wording led me to believe that it provided a thermo couple for the control. The title is "Repti Temp Rheostat" and "Adjusts the temperature of most non-thermostatically controlled heating devices." I guess they left out the part that this would be a "manual" adjustment. So this is nothing more than a dimmer switch.
