First of all, i wanted to take a min to thank EVERYONE who took the time to answer the original post!!! I got a lot of good feedback/answers that helped me prepare. It's really nice to have a place where people care enough to take a few minutes of their day to help others out
Well, here's how the show went......
pppptttttttttttthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
IT COMPLETELY SUCKED FOR US!!!!!
The first hour we got several strange looks as we were the only ones with birds at a reptile convention. So, we added a big sign that said "snake food" to the front of our table. After this, we had lots of gasps from people walking by (these people looked at us as though we had just sacrificed thier puppy)....as well as "do snakes eat birds?" Afer the first 50, i began replying, "there are no frozen rats in nature" and "snakes will eat anything that fits into their mouths".
After the first 2-3 hours i began asking people if they wanted snake food or people food (i had heard several say how tasty they were) and managed to hand out some cards to people who had eaten quail in the past but either had no place to hunt or the person who did the hunting was "back home".
During the last 15 mins i managed to sell (at 1/2 price) 4 chicks as feeders, 4 chicks as pets, 5 small feeders and 4 large feeders....the large feeders promptly broke their necks in the chinese food type boxes we put them in! Luckily they went to the guy from the pet store next door and he assured me his critters would eat them frozen, but i still felt bad......what good is live food that dies????
8 hours spent indoors during one of the nicest days left in summer for $53 #$^&&#$% THAT!
If anyone in the broadcasting area (kansas) wants to buy fresh/frozen professionally processed quail, shoot me a P.M. We recently found a USDA inspected facility that will process small birds.
