ReptiPro 5000 & 6000 Hatch-a-long Thread

My 6000 is great! I had my first big hatch over the weekend but my hatch rate was low because of an error on my part. The Reptipro is holding temp great and is about 1 degree off from my thermometers and does much better in regards to the temperature difference between the top and the bottom ...My 5000 was 3-4 degrees of at times ! I just wish y'all would come out with a bigger model so when I need to upgrade to a larger capacity incubator I could stick the brand!

We agree, and that is definitely in the works!

The 5000 did not offer the constantly running fan, and that is part of the temp difference you were seeing. All of the new models come with this standard. It is possible to modify units, and we will do so upon request.

Hey guys!
Just wondering if anyone was starting a new hatch with their ReptiPro this season.
We would love to hear your success stories and help with any questions you may have.
You can always message us on here, or call us at (800)259-9755.

We have been making improvements to the unit over the last year, and are glad to announce that our current units have an upgraded thermoelectric module, an upgraded chipset, and overall better manufacturing standards than in the past.

Let me know what's hatching this year! I wanna see pics of all the babies!
Thanks guys, and happy hatching!
ReptiPro

If you could fix the door latch it would be helpful. I bought my ReptiPro 6000 in the fall of 2012 in anticipation of some eggs that did not arrive so it took a while before I tried the unit. The first time I opened it up I had a problem with the door latch - door would not open without prying it with a screwdriver. I contacted customer service and was told it would loosen over time. Yeah, sort of. Eventually it loosened to the point where I could open it without a tool, but it always took several attempts before opening and I usually broke a couple of fingernails in the process.

Did a trial hatch in spring of 2013 that went fine, but only had the Reptipro half full. Started hatching for real in Dec 2013. Had runaway humidity once I got the Reptipro full, and discovered it needed to be run dry when it was full, in order to keep the humidity in a reasonable range. And I live in a desert. Humidity issues were user error, but I lost two hatches that overlapped in the incubator during the humid time.

Had two hatches that were ok, and then the door latch broke for real. The part that broke is the frame of the incubator where the door latch connects. The latch does not hold at all now but the door is finally easy to open. I had just put in my most critical set of eggs when the latch broke and did not have a backup incubator. Finally managed to hold the door shut with a bungee cord. Got an acceptable hatch with the bungee operation so it did not adversely affect anything.

One of my turners began making loud noises after two months of continuous operation, and the turner motor was starting to get really hot. It was right at the end of an incubation period so I just pulled the turner. Not sure what its problem is but I won't trust that turner for next time. If there is a next time. I stopped hatching because the weather here got hot too fast, not because if the incubator issues.

I really liked the design of this incubator - it fits nicely in the space I have available and it looks good. And it's just the right size for my operation. Unfortunately my unit had issues. I should have returned it the minute I had problems with the door latch, but I didn't. So now, instead of getting another one of these I plan on getting a different incubator and using the ReptiPro for emergency backup.

I'd have been much more inclined to get a second ReptiPro if the customer service folks had said "Oh, sorry the door doesn't work properly. Send it back and we'll fix it or replace the unit." when I first requested assistance.

Not exactly a total success, but it could have been a lot worse. And it did get me 24 chicks before I had to stop for the season.

Hi Magic Chicken!
I am sorry to hear that you had these issues.
Know that we did take your feedback regarding the door latches and have made corrections so that we no longer have that issue.
If you would like to contact me, I can definitely help you get up and incubating again.
You can reach me at (800)259-9755. I look forward to helping you!
