Are the accurate as people say? Im trying to get the most accurate one I can get.

Ok Miss/Mrs. yin..lol..I got it right..you are a lady.
I go into lock down in the morning. Had to throw out two more eggs. But have many left alive and well. So question is, what do you keep your humidity at during lock down? I put a wet piece of paper towel in. My goodness, it got way too high, tore it in half, still too high. Tore some more off..so, I will be just putting a small piece in again. Didn't you say you open the bator, even during lock down? How often do you do that? Thanks!

for chickens I just let the hatching eggs raise the humidity naturally.. I only raise the humidity for turkey and waterfowl to around 70 to 80%

and yeah.. I open the bator AT LEAST 5 times a day during "lockdown".. as you have seen the humidity goes right back up very quickly.. so in my opinion the air exchange (to prevent carbon dioxide poisoning) is more important than humidity

great, will open it, and won't worry too much about the humidity. I have found opening my other bators didn't seem to hurt any that were pipped either, just to snatch a little one that had been in long enough, and the other eggs were taking their time. They hatched ok. Just those that weren't going to make it anyway didn't.
I also lowered my temp on these in my 6000. It is staying warmer anyway, I think because I have the humidity up to 60. I'm thinking 55 would be better? Thanks!

Recieved my 6000 and really liked it what I noticed is it gets to the set temp quickly. I have mine set on 102 but actual temp is about 99. notices the temp display on the incubator goes from 100 to 103 Is this fine?

If I had mine set at 103, my eggs would be cooking! I guess it's according to how the room is in your home. I also go by the touch of them. Through the years of incubating, I know when I feel an egg that is way to warm. I have found, with my 6000, that the temp on the outside, was reading what my thermometer read on the top shelf inside. The lower shelf will be a degree or even two in difference. You have to figure out what works where you are. I am in lock down now, and have had to try different things for humidity as this is my first time in lock down with it. Trying not to let it get up over 60! If you think it keeps the temp right on, wait until you see how well it holds humidity! I don't mind it being in the 50's for lock down. And yin sure is right about opening the bator during lock down, it will kick right back up real quick in humidity. Not too worried at all about opening it.

Due to hatch tomorrow, so I am excited that there is a pip, makes things seem like they are going to happen. ) I am surprised it's one of the large eggs, and not one of the Silkies. I hope these Silkies make it. I have a lot of people wanting them. And, I want a paint! There is only one in there. Crossing fingers!

Thanks yin, I have remembered what you suggested, and had been opening it during the day yesterday, well all along~ and now I'm opening it to......ta da...take babies out as they hatch. Got my first chick last night just before 1 a.m. I have the bator in my room. Anyway, another hatched during the night, took it out..wow, that humidity always shoots up when they hatch. Got up this morning with two zipping, and now they are out. Lots more pips!!
This is going great so far! Today is hatch day.

I have been incubating the duck eggs ( I don't know what they are so I don't know how long they need to cook) in the 5000 and they seem to have filled up everything but the air cells so I've moved them to the second shelf and stopped turning, I have a couple of chicken eggs (mine, "control" eggs) going to lock down today too so we'll see what happens. There are only 5 guineas left in there, they really didn't fare well with the power outage I guess.
I love that the humidity stay up, less for me to worry about with the ones that need it high and great for lockdown, I do wipe the condensation off the front and I take the wet shells out when I move the chicks to the bottom to dry, to try to keep it from going too high. Otherwise the chicks would never dry.
I have heard that silkies are harder to hatch. Why is that? Humidity?
