I've got two Reptipros going into lockdown--1 right now and 1 tomorrow night. The first has 10 Andalusians, 5 OE, and 9 Welsummers. Sure wish I could see something more into those darker eggs
I know the Andalusians are good (moving when I candled before lockdown), but I haven't a clue about the darker ones--I can't even see veining, just shadows, and that's using a 200 lumen flashlight in top while the egg sits on a homemade candler from underneath. Sheesh. I live in mortal terror of one of them blowing and the whole hatch going kaput. In any case, the Andalusians and OE's are set on the shelf, which is on it's lowest bracket, and the Welsummers are on the bottom. There is a baby jar of water on each level and I'm tweaking around to get the temp and humidity just so. These eggs have been hand turned and rotated shelf to shelf (I had a second homemade shelf, but decided there wasn't enough room between the two shelves).
The second Reptipro has 13 Wheaton/Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas and 7 Welsummers, split the same way. They will be a slightly staggered hatch, set about 36 hours apart.
I have great hopes for this hatching, since I pretty much poached my last hatch halfway through using a styrofoam 'bator that decided to temp spike up to 106.
I'm a little worried about the eggs on the bottom part of the incubator since the temp is definitely a little lower, but I am hoping that the worst that will happen is a slightly delayed hatch. None of them spent their earlier incubation time on the bottom--like I said, I made a second shelf for incubating and rotated all eggs shelf to shelf when I turned them 3 times a day. I lost a lot out of all these batches very early on (painfully obvious detached air sacs and such thankyouverymuchUSPS), but all of the ones I could see into that are going into lockdown are for sure good.
Send good hatching vibes our way--my kids seem afraid to get their hopes up after the last disaster and I've been sitting on these incubators like a mother hen for the past 18 days. Now I'm up to checking temp and humidity about every 20 minutes. I'm gonna give myself a freaking cheek twitch pretty soon here...
