Request for help determining breed and sex.

I was told this was a Gold Wyandot Chick. It is about 12 weeks old as of this picture. Spends about 15 hours a week free ranging.

Looks to me like a Dark Cornish Cockerel. [Hatchery quality, that is why he is not as extreme in build as show stock]

Sorry you did not get the breed you wanted. Still, Cornish are a good dual purpose breed[unlike the commercial hybrid crosses], though. Pity he is a boy.

Agree with the hatchery Dark Cornish. I have one around 7 weeks that's an Oops rooster. Trying to decide if I want to keep him to add some meat to the next year's cockerels. If you can't keep him, I'd advertise him with an eye toward someone who wants to raise their own meat, but not the Cornish cross. He'd make decent foundation stock for a home made line of meat birds.
