My boyfriend and I rescued 9 pullets from an animal hoarding situation. They had been raised together and needed to stay together. However, no one could tell us what breed they are.. any insight would help. We know the white ones are egg layers and the brown were raised for meat... anyone have an idea of their breeds?

They are a few months old, havent had any eggs yet. They told us the brown ones were brown egg layers though

The white look like White Leghorns, though I would expect more comb growth on those.
The brown look like they will either be Rhode Island Reds, or a Red Sex-link of some sort.

I know they arent reds. The people we got them from have us 3 reds and they looked different. Sadly, they didnt make it

To me they look like welsummers and leghorns.

To me they look like birds who would like us to come back in a month or so and see how much better they will look with your care.

As a suggestion chickens prefer the wide side of a 2 x 4 - meaning the 4" wide side to roost on. Chickens are not the perching type like wild birds. They like the wide side so the can lay their heads on top of their feet.
