My feed store has chicks, and I noticed some weren't doing so well. I offered to take them home to try to nurse them back to health. They said yes on the condition that I keep them. (seeing as my coop is full, I"ll give them away.) One chick had a pasty butt. Some warm water and a hairdryer solved that. Another chick was a bit lethargic. Electrolytes, water, and a bit of honey solved that.
But the runtiest little chick ever had bad balance, would not drink, and made distress sounds when the others were content.
Eventually she started to drink. But she still fell over, and made distress sounds.
I took her out and clapped behind her.
No reaction.
Is this little chick deaf?
Is she freaking out because she can't hear her flock?
