Hello,
We found a baby duck on the road yesterday on the road with a torn wing. It looks like it might be 1-2 weeks old and no mamma in sight anywhere, we looked around. There are a few pools in our neighborhood but no pond. It's a miracle he survived as long as he did. We bought some starter mash and gave him/her some water but we don't know how to raise ducks. Is there anyone in the northridge California area who raise ducks? We'd keep him but we don't want to raise more then one and he's probably happiest with his own flock. Please advise

You might find a water fowl rescue group who would take in the lil duck fix it up and be able to release it back into the wild eventually. Is it a wild mallard?

OMG I love it when people rescue like that. if I were you I would take it to a vet or expert say what they say then wait til it grows up and then set it out in a nearby pond, check on it everyday for 1 week, than twice every week for 2 weeks the 3 times a week for a month and then just check on it annually to make sure its okay!

We rescued a wild baby mallard a couple of weeks ago. Similar situation but no injuries. It was about a day old. Ducks are very social animals and can actually die of loneliness, so I would either spend a TON of time with him or get him a friend (another duckling of similar age) if you can. But if you can find a wild bird rescue in your area that would be the best option.
