I rescued these two birds and wasn't told their breeds. I was more curious than anything. If you have any idea I would love to hear it. =) I thought the one was a Plymouth Rock hen, until I noticed her feet look white and almost iridescent.

The one is an EE pullet. The other really looks a lot like my barred rock hens. However, I've never seen a cuckoo marans, so that could be it too.

Barred Rock, nevertheless.

Hatcheries (Cough*Ideal*cough) aren't the best preservers of Standard of Perfection traits.
You know, and that’s a shame! As much as I want the manufacturers/sellers of these matchbox sized, so-called chicken coops to start shooting straight about the number of chickens each will hold (and other coop requirements) I would think that these hatcheries would be held accountable to breed to the dang standard of a breed of chicken! I could keep going and going on this rant. Pretty soon us new chicken keepers will be buying actual pigeons advertised as chickens and keeping them in a guinea pig cage advertised as a chicken coop. Geez Louise! When will this nonsensical chaos end. I guess it’s going to take a designated agency to regulate the backyard chicken keeping industry to keep the manufacturers and hatcheries honest. This is a disgrace to say the least!
Rant over!
