You seem to have it solved that this maybe a quail. But just an FYI : my silkie chicks where TINY maybe 1 1/2 inches long and less then 1/2 the size of a regular chick.
It will be interesting to see what it grows into, please keep us posted!

I dont think it's a quail. I have hatched them before and they have what I refer to as "doodley doos" on the tops of their heads. It looks more like a pheasant to me.

That looks just like a baby chicken I had!! Her name was Nuggett, she just passed away due to unknown causes but that looks just like her to me.


Nuggett's baby picture is my avatar. I'm not sure what breed she is, I don't know what any of my chickens are though..
